Association

The Mastercooks of Belgium are the ambassadors of the Belgian culinary heritage. They do magic every day with the fantastic ingredients that our country has to offer. They are the creative brains of the rural culinary future and provide thousands of people with an unforgettable taste experience every day. Together they show the world what gastronomic Belgium stands for!

Origin

The Mastercooks of Belgium – then still ‘The Association of Master Chefs of Belgium’ – was founded in 1980 at the initiative of Pierre Romeyer and founded together with, among others, Pierre Wijnants, Jacques Deluc and Roger Souvereyns, the godfathers of Belgian cuisine. After Romeyer, the presidency was carried by well-known top chefs such as Pierrot Fonteyne, Alain Deluc, Guy Van Cauteren, Robert Van Duuren, Frank Fol and since 2021 Cédric Poncelet.

Mastercooks

A Mastercook is a proud professional who

  • only satisfied with top quality
  • respects his/her team, producers and suppliers
  • and want to spoil his guests.

He/she makes every effort to transfer his/her knowledge to motivated employees and the next generations.

The Young Masters

The Young Masters© is the name of the youth department (max. 38 years old) of The Mastercooks of Belgium®. It is not a new association, but this culinary youth group is developing new ideas to make Belgian cuisine even stronger and more attractive in the future, both in Belgium and abroad.
