They are the creative minds driving the nation's culinary future and deliver thousands of people an unforgettable taste experience every single day. Together they show the world what gastronomic Belgium stands for!

Origin

The Mastercooks of Belgium – originally called 'The Association of Master Chefs of Belgium' – was founded in 1980 on the initiative of Pierre Romeyer and established together with, among others, Pierre Wynants, Jacques Deluc and Roger Souvereyns, the godfathers of Belgian cuisine.

After Romeyer, the presidency was held by Pierrot Fonteyne, Alain Deluc, Guy Van Cauteren, Robert Van Duüren, Frank Fol, and Cédric Poncelet. Since 2024, Philippe Vanheule has been the president of the association.

Mastercooks

A Mastercook is a proud skilled professional who

  • is only satisfied with top quality
  • respects their team, producers, and suppliers
  • and wants to spoil his guests.

He/she does everything to pass on his/her knowledge to motivated employees and future generations.

The Young Masters

The Young Masters© is the name of the youth division (max. 38 years old) of The Mastercooks of Belgium®. It is not a new association, but rather this culinary youth group develops fresh ideas to make Belgian cuisine even stronger and more attractive for the future, both in Belgium and abroad.
